Geocell In Road Construction Types Advantages Disadvantages

Image
What Are Geocells? Geocells are three-dimensional, expandable panels made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polyester, or other polymeric material. During installation, the interconnected strips expand to form flexible, three-dimensional cellular structural walls where backfill materials such as sand, earth, stone, etc., are placed and compacted. It creates a free-drainage system that holds the filling materials and prevents movement by providing traction through tensile reinforcement. Geocells thus improve the structural and functional behavior of soil and aggregate filling material. Did You Know? Geocell was first developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s by presto geosystems. Typical geocells for geosynthetics are made using ultrasonically welded HDPE strips and expanded on-site to form a honeycomb structure filled with materials such as sand, earth, stone, etc. Geosynthetics is simply a synthetic product used to stabilize the soil. The main purpose of using geocell

The construction of a new railway line costing over 2 billion has started in Gujarat.   A railway route connecting Gujarat and Rajasthan  and providing better mobility to the temple town of Ambaji has been  approved by the Narendra Modi government,   Union minister Anurag Thakur informed at the press briefing .   The estimated cost of this project is  Rs. 2798.16 crores  and will be completed by  2026-27.is  of  length 116.65 kilometers . The Taranga hill in Gujarat’s Mehsana district is regarded as significant for both the Jain and Buddhist communities.   According to a state tourism website, the oldest known Jain temple was constructed on this hilltop in the 12th century. Road construction

The  history  of road construction The methods of  constructing   roads  have changed a lot since the first  roads  were  built  around 4,000 BC – made of  stone  and  timber . The first Roman  roads  were  stone  paved,  built  in  North Africa  and  Europe  for military  operations .  Road construction  techniques were gradually improved by the study of  road   traffic ,  stone  thickness,  road  alignment, and  slope   gradients , developing to use  stones  that were laid in a regular, compact  design , and covered with smaller  stones  to produce a solid  layer Modern   road construction Modern   roads  tend to be  constructed  using  asphalt  and/or  concrete . Very broadly, the  construction  of  roads  includes three processes: §   Setting out . §   Earthworks . §   Paving   construction . Setting out This is carried out following the  dimensions   specified  in  layout   drawings . A commonly used  setting out  procedure is the  profile   boa
