Vastu home design is an integral part of architecture today. These plans are designed according to your plot and how best they can benefit the whole family.

Vastu Home Design: Location of Home


The location of your house is one of the most important things to remember when deciding on a Vastu home design. Homes facing the East are considered to be the most auspicious. Houses that face the North-East quadrant are also acceptable in Vastu.

Just like the image above, you should also take care of the house's shape, as it should be rectangular or square. Having an irregularly shaped home may cause inconvenience and bring bad luck to all those living in it. 

Vastu Home Design Plan for Entrance


A house's entrance is where all positive energy enters from, so keeping this place clean and welcoming is essential. Vastu home design plans have the entrance door as the largest door in the house. It is also a must to have the entrance a little above ground level.

Vastu Home Design for Bedroom


As per Vastu shastra, the best location for bedrooms in a home are the South-West or the South- East quadrants. The bedroom is an area meant for relaxation, and you should keep in mind to have lights that align with this state. Soft yellow lights are best suited for this part of the house, and you can choose to paint the walls in shades of light blues, white, or muted pink. The master bedroom should be the primary bedroom in your Vastu home design. 

Vastu Home Design for Living Room


The living room is where you entertain friends and meet strangers coming to your house. Therefore, this place experiences a lot of different kinds of energy, including negativity. Therefore, as per Vastu home design, you should always have living rooms in the North direction of the house.

Try to balance the elements in this space and use colours, decor, and furniture to mix and match, as showcased in the image above. Opt for tones of brown to bring stability to the space and to keep you grounded, and use a water representation to invite abundance.

The living room should also have bright lights. Also, avoid placing dead flowers of thorny plants like cactus in the living room.  

Vastu Home Design for Kitchen


You should have the kitchen in the South-East part of the house. The South is also a preferable quadrant, as it governs fire, which is one of the kitchen elements. An important tip to keep in mind would be to keep the sink and the stove separated and at a distance in the kitchen, as fire and water do not agree together.

Remember to keep your kitchen clean and well-ventilated and have plenty of light, just like the image above.

Vastu Home Design for Study Room


The study room of the house is where you get your work done. Home design plans as per vastu have study rooms designed to invite peace and attract determination and focus. Few things to keep in mind are to choose light colours for the study as depicted in the image above, have a plant or two to attract positivity, and ensure it gets plenty of natural light.

Vastu Home Design for Bathroom

As per the Vastu home design plan, the bathroom should be in the North-West zone and nowhere near the kitchen. And at no cost, the bathroom walls should touch the kitchen walls.

Vastu also recommends that it is better not to have an attached bathroom with the bedroom, but if you lack space and want to build one in, plan for it to be to the West of the bedroom and make sure it's not facing the bed. As shown in the image above, white and grey are the best-suited colours for the bathroom.

Vastu Home Design for Balcony


Balconies should be in the East, North, or North-East part of Vastu home design. This is where you spend time relaxing; therefore, it is vital to have earthy tones of beige or brown here in the form of furniture, as shown in the image above. You should also have some plants on the balcony as they attract positive energies into a space.

Vastu Home Design for Staircase


Staircase placement is an integral part of house design. To make it Vastu compliant, ensure it is in the South West direction. If that is not possible for some reason, you may also consider other zones after consulting a Vastu expert. However, you must avoid choosing a North East area for your home staircase.

Vastu Home Design for Dining Hall


Most Indian homes have their dining table in the living room itself. However, those with a larger space tend to have a separate dining hall. And for them, Vastu recommends the West zone. And while West is the best direction for a dining hall, you can opt for the South, North or East zone too. Just be careful that you don't choose the South West zone as that can bring in bad vibes or bad luck.

Vastu Home Design for Kids' Room

Your kid's room should be in the North East direction. This direction is related to power, strength and intelligence. Additionally, it spreads positive energies in your child's room, keeping them engaged in their studies. 

As for the study table in the kid's room, make sure it faces the North or East direction. It will help your chole achieve goals and work hard. 

Vastu Home Design for Guest Bedroom


North West is the best zone for a guest bedroom. Since guests are equivalent to god in India, it is your responsibility as a homeowner to ensure their comfort. Doing brings prosperity for you and your family.

- The master bedroom should be in the South-West
- Pooja and living rooms should be North-East part of the house
- No big tree should be in the North or East of the home

Pro Vastu Home Design Tips for Homes Facing South

- Place furniture in the South -West part of the house
- If the open area in the South is more than or equal to the height of your home, plant tall trees here
- Red should be used in the area outside your home

Pro Vastu Home Design Tips for Homes Facing West

- The kitchen should not be in the South-West part of the house
- Living rooms in the North-East part of the house will attract good luck
- The West and South walls need to be thicker than the walls on the North and East side

Pro Vastu Home Design Tips for Homes Facing North

- No staircase should be located in the North
- Plots that have a slope from North to South are an absolute no
- The septic tank and toilets should be avoided in the North-East part
