How to calculate the capacity of water tank in circular tank

To calculate the capacity of water in a circular tank in Liters, you can follow these steps:

1.      Measure the Radius (r):

Determine the radius of the tank.

This is the distance from the centre of the tank to the inner edge of the circular wall.

2.      Measure the Water Height (h):

 Determine the height of the water level in the tank.

This is the vertical distance from the bottom of the tank to the surface of the water.

3.      Calculate the Volume in Cubic Meters:

Use the formula for the volume of a cylinder, which is applicable to a circular tank

                                                                         V = π × r2 × h

Here,

                        r is the radius of the tank,

h is the height of the water level,

4.      Convert Cubic Meters to Liters:

Since 1 cubic meter equals 1000 Liters,

Volume in Liters = V × 1000

        Example Calculation:

            Let's assume:

      • Radius of the tank, r = 2 meters
      • Water height, h = 3 meters

        First, calculate the volume V in cubic meters:

V = π × (2)2 × 3

V = π × 4 × 3

V ≈  3.14159 x 12

V ≈ 37.699 cubic meters

        Now, convert the volume to litres:

Volume in Liters = 37.699 × 1000

Volume in Liters ≈ 37,699 litres
