HUDCO AND ITS IMPORTANCE -TS

The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) is an Indian government-owned enterprise that provides long-term financing and technical assistance for housing and urban infrastructure projects.
 Its primary goals focus on delivering affordable housing—with a mandate to direct the vast majority of dwelling units to economically weaker sections—and funding critical civic facilities like sanitation, transport, and water supply.


The core functions of HUDCO include:
Infrastructure Financing: Providing long-term loans to state governments, urban local bodies, and development authorities to build roads, power grids, and smart city infrastructure.

Affordable Housing: 
Prioritizing the housing needs of the poor and disadvantaged (EWS/LIG), while acting as a key implementation agency for national missions like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Consultancy & Design
Offering technical and consultancy services for urban planning, architecture, and environmental engineering.Training & Capacity Building: Conducting programs to help government officials improve the implementation of urban and regional development projects.

Technology Promotion
Promoting and funding cost-effective, energy-efficient, and sustainable building technologies utilizing local materials
